Hello, it’s cool to have you here, reading this!
My name is Barbara.
I lived in the city for 8 years and recently decided to give up all the “luxuries” of a city life and trade them for mountain views, fresh air, peace of mind and slower living.
I grew up close to nature and I was “dragged” to many outdoor experiences. Back then I didn’t know how important they would be in shaping who I am.
Fast forward to when I was a young adult, chasing my dreams, ready to take on the world and finally live in a city with sky scrappers, bars, nightlife, fast living, excitement, etc. I lived like this for the next 8 years but in 2020 something changed inside of me and I was starting to realize I haven’t been happy for a while.
For the next 4 years I battled that confusion - after all - I was living what I thought would be my dream life, how can I be so restless and empty? I’ve been pulled closer and closer to nature, I started feeling anxious staying inside and I dreaded coming home from any adventure I had in nature. I finally understood all the exposure to nature I had when I was little. It makes sense for us, as humans, from evolutionary perspective.
And so in July of 2024 I pulled the plug on city living and moved to the mountains to slow my life down, find some peace, be in nature more, sit in traffic less, do more things that make my soul smile. The effects were almost immediate. It made me realize I’ve been swimming against the current for years because I was too afraid to accept the fact that my perspective of the world and my priorities have changed.
I now aim to share my story of re-connecting with nature in hopes of inspiring you to hug some trees, see some great mountains, swim in some cold rivers and find peace in your mind.
